And So It Begins…
I know I’d planned to take a little break, but I also know that large projects need a lot of time and planning. Therefore, I decided to set up a meeting with one of my old photography students. This lady belongs to a hospital radio station called ‘Life Care Radio.’ She also happens to work at my college too.
I have so many ideas for my final exhibition that I feel the need to explore multiple avenues. I have already started making enquiries about the installation of a large mobile at the college where I work. However, I feel that I also need a backup plan.
My main aim is to create a kinetic mobile structure with lots of hidden meaning and depth to it. A study in human curiosity is actually the driving force behind what I’m trying to achieve (I will explain more about that at a later stage). At the same time, just in case this fails, I also want to explore the placement of some of my digital work. I would like it to appear in both my work setting and in a hospital setting. This is where my college friend from Life Care Radio comes in.
We decided to have a coffee and a chat. Cathie, my friend was amazing! Not only did she understand what I was trying to achieve, she also gave me some excellent contacts. She encouraged me to make enquiries at my college while suggesting the best people to speak to. As a direct result of our meeting today, I now have two proposals to write, digital artworks to compile and contacts to contact.
Although I’m technically supposed to be taking a break, I leave today feeling content that I have the groundwork in place for exploring one or maybe even two collaborative ventures.
Another positive outcome from today was a meeting with one of the team from Halo AR who I used for a lot of my Unit 2 augmented reality work. They particularly liked one of my augmented reality videos and subsequently requested a meeting to talk to me. We chatted for just over half an hour and I suggested that perhaps they consider sponsoring my project in some way. We chatted about their pricing structures and they were keen to know my thoughts and my experiences with using their software. Emilio, the team member I was speaking with, said he would look into featuring one of my videos. He also agreed to investigate what sponsorship opportunities might exist. I will keep them informed of my progress and who knows where this might lead?
I seem to have successfully generated a whole pile of work for myself today, but at the same time, I also feel it’s very exciting! Tomorrow, I will start work on my proposals.
