Saving Assets for Later –
In the process of experimenting with Ai text to image, I generated a number of stills documented in my post Human Coding and Ai Generated Imagery for Animation. Currently I am waiting for some ‘Chladni’ equipment arriving from Ireland. Therefore, instead of wasting time, I decided to experiment with some of the small animations I made in that post.
Video 1. A combination of Clips
The video below was a composite of all of the short clips I generated from my software tutorial. I like the fluid motion of the clips and the way they spread. I feel this could be a visual metaphor for the relentless spread of Ai into our lives.
Video 2. Ai from an Early Age
The video below is an experiment moving on from video 1. I added an iPad and a cake and candle. This represents the march of Ai from an increasingly early age.
Video 3. Ai on the March
This was my preferred video from the series of experiments. It is a simple video short exploring the tentacle like spread of images across a screen. The calming music to each video is there to invoke a sense of calm as the tentacles spread and grow. I feel personally impacted by Ai as an artist and these shorts are my response to it. I would like to work with it but at the same time I still want to create using my camera.
Conclusion and Reflection
The videos above were my response to how I have been feeling about Ai lately. The small animations were a byproduct of a software tutorial I am learning and they seem relevant to the tentacle like nature of Ai. I doubt very much that I will take this kind of work forward, as I feel I need to be working with my camera again. However, I think it is always useful to keep any assets produced in the learning experience, as they may one day prove useful. I am looking forward to receiving my ‘Chladni’ kit as this will offer up more photographic opportunities for me. I will be explaining more about this once my kit arrives. In the meantime I have learned more about my chosen software and experimented with the results of its use. The time is rapidly approaching that I need to formulate my ideas and which ones to take forward. Perhaps the greatest personal learning outcome is that I miss my camera and I need to start visually exploring with it again.
Lastly – Free Live View Wallpapers
Lastly but not least and to wrap up this line of experimentation, I have produced a series of ‘Live View’ wallpapers. These are reactive phone screen wallpapers that, when pressed with a finger, on the home screen of an iPhone will react. I felt the videos lent themselves very well as wallpaper screens for phones. Please see the video below for an example. To obtain a free live view wallpaper please get in touch and I will email you the necessary file. Please note any iPhone running version 15 or above does not support this functionality.
