Changes Mirrored in Colour Palettes – As I reviewed the requirements for various learning objectives, I wondered if I could visually depict the transformation or evolution of my work. I recalled an early blog post where I explored my phone’s camera roll using an app that compresses images into a heat map. I then further pixelated these images in Photoshop to break them down into their constituent colours. This process was documented in a blog post called ‘Starting an MA’. It was actually only my second post, so it is highly representative of what I was doing 2 years ago. I wondered what my very latest camera roll images would look like now compared to those of 2 years ago? Cryptosporidium Outbreak in Brixham – Over the last few weeks I have not been feeling well at all. I strongly suspected that I had contracted cryptosporidium again. I recognised all the symptoms as I had fallen victim to it before. It is a very nasty parasite and the first time round it made me extremely ill. When it was officially confirmed the first time, my GP said he was unsurprised at how bad I was feeling as it can be a killer. Luckily this time, although my symptoms were still pretty severe I think that some residual immunity from the first bout must have helped. I did find working very difficult during this period, but I’m glad to say that very slowly I’m on the mend. Interestingly, I’ve just received a service text message from South West Water telling me that I should boil all of my water as I’m in an affected area. The Man from OFSTED – ‘Says Yeah!’ – It’s not officially confirmed yet, but we have received exciting news from OFSTED. I’m not allowed to say too much at this stage as it all needs to be formally verified, but let’s just say we received a lot of ‘outstanding’ comments about a number of key areas 🙂 We scored very highly in the area of special needs. This is something dear to my heart, as I often teach students with complex special needs such as autism, severe anxiety and ADHD. Our department welcomes these students and all of us work tirelessly to make a difference in these students’ lives. For me, it’s one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
