Tuesday 25th July –
I’m currently pretty immobile laid across my bed. Sadly my back deteriorated overnight meaning that I can’t move very far. I did manage to get a physiotherapist appointment which was great! Unfortunately the appointment isn’t till 12th October! So I’m not sure about this? Perhaps I need to stay in bed till then? It seems our NHS is in free fall at the moment – well if you have a sore back it is. Luckily I have managed to edit my work from yesterday and also upload it. Please see below for the results from yesterday’s endeavours. The video below has moved on as it incorporates rotation as well as scaling plus a small dancing robot. At the moment there is no creative intent behind the robot but it helps to show what is possible. Again I have used the same music as I feel that the lyrics are very apt.
Just as I thought things were going so well my sore back really did take a turn for the worst and I had to finally give in and contact the ‘docs’. By the time I returned from seeing one of our very new and very pleasant nurse practitioners (seeing doctors is only for the dying these days, or so it seems), I was exhausted, and the extra strong painkillers just about finished me off. Therefore progress today was not as good as planned. To make matters worse I discovered yet another augmented reality program which was on top of the one I discovered yesterday. I did manage to investigate yesterday’s software discovery. It was very good and very user friendly. Unfortunately it didn’t seem to support video or image sequences (.gifs), and sharing the experiences was also quite clunky. So for this reason I have discounted it. The problem is I’ve got yet another program to check out tomorrow. I can’t do anymore today as I’m feeling way too rough but hopefully I’ll do this tomorrow.
What Did I Learn?
Augmented reality is becoming more mainstream. So instead of just producing the kind of AR experiences that everyone else does I need to think much more creativity. Perhaps there is some merit in combining these different softwares to produce something much more unique. I learned that I’m keen to try out the new software I found today. I’ll also be adding to my Barcelona Graffiti book as time is beginning to run out on my challenge. There is so much that I still want to try out!
What Did I Actually Achieve?
Today I experimented with mixing an augmented reality video with augmented reality. It was an interesting combination. However I want to look to something a bit different. I leave today wondering how I can make my augmented reality experiences really stand out from the crowd. I’m optimistic that I can produce something interesting back willing, we shall see.
