Thursday 20th July –
Today I am feeling a little burned out with all things digital. I spent all morning looking for ‘Touch Designer’ effects that I could incorporate into my augmented reality work. All it did was depress me because I don’t really understand the nodal way of programming. I keep having to tell myself that actually I’m not a coder or particularly conversant in programming. Even the augmented reality tutorials are becoming more and more complex. Today’s tutorial covered the various ways in which animated 3d objects can be imported.
What Did I Learn?
Today I learned that it would take me weeks of training on Blender to create my own animated objects from scratch, therefore I’ve decided to use Adobe’s solution for this and use downloadable assets when required. I learned how to import 3d animated objects. I also learned that I’m never ever going to become a ‘Touch Designer’ whiz kid. I learned that I need to think more creatively about how I can use the skills and knowledge that I do have, to better effect.
What Did I Actually Achieve?
I managed to identify some Touch Designer training videos that hopefully will help me create interesting augmented reality pieces for my Barcelona Graffiti book. I leave today feeling somewhat overwhelmed with all of the digital learning that I’m having to do. I might be down but I’m not yet out and in the word from a famous movie – tomorrow is another day. I will fight on!
