Friday 21st July –
Today’s challenge started with a conversation with ChatGPT. I was looking for ways of creating digital art that would work well with augmented reality. After many conversations and frustrations ChatGPT finally came up with some interesting programs for me to try. It did take a very long time and a lot of amended code but finally ChatGPT did ‘come good’. Now that I have completed pretty much all of the augmented reality tutorials my main focus has to be putting into practice what I have learned so far.
I’m actually quite amazed at how much I have learned while doggedly pursuing the 21 day challenge. Each day my knowledge is building. For me this has been a very worthwhile exercise!
What Did I Learn?
Today I learned that not every day do I need to make a little video. I’ve actually been working really hard today with ChatGPT to create some amazing generative art pieces. It has taken a lot of time explaining my requirements and testing the resulting programs but I’m pretty happy with the way it is all going. I am learning that you don’t actually have to be a computer ‘whiz kid’ to produce digital art that is very mesmerising. I hope that through my augmented reality work I can produce something that is both unique and relaxing. I’ve learned that it takes a lot of work with ChatGPT to reach the desired result. I’ve also learned that sometimes I need a break. There’s one last augmented tutorial that I want to take. I had planned to do it today but along with everything else I had to go to the Apple shop to get my ailing MacBook looked at. It received a clean bill of health but my cluttered desktop and sloppy working practices of leaving lots of apps open at once has led to its downfall. I will mend my ways lol :-). In the meantime I have to reiterate sometimes I need a break, but as always, I’ll be hard at it again tomorrow for the very nearly half way stage.
What Did I Actually Achieve?
I’ve actually achieved the production of around 20 really good animation programs today that will help me to explore generative art further. I’ve just finished my work for this evening and I’ve spent around 5 hours in total refining the programs with ChatGPT. For this reason I am going to call it a day and I will assemble videos over the next few days as I add them in augmented reality to my Barcelona Graffiti book. I leave today feeling quite excited.
