My Third Tutorial –
After a whirlwind of a few weeks at work, it was really nice to catch up with Jonathan. Jonathan asked me a number of questions relating to what I thought was going well and what wasn’t working so well. Currently, I’m really enjoying my Barcelona Graffiti project, but the greatest issues that I’m facing are time constraints due to work. Luckily we are fast approaching the end of term now, so these pressures should hopefully ease. I am also very excited about trying the 21 day challenge (Zoom session 29). I think this is a great idea and it will help keep me focussed and working over the Summer holidays. I’m particularly interested in Ai developments relating to art so that may be a starting point.
I explained to Jonathan about how I would love to get the MACBA involved in some way with my Barcelona Graffiti project. Jonathan suggested that some animation of this project might work well and I think this is definitely something I’ll try. He also asked why I needed the MACBA on board? Thinking about it, I guess I don’t really, and realistically would they even be interested? I suppose nothing ventured – nothing gained, but at the same time I am realistic about my chances of working with them. Following my discussion with Janet earlier about adding depth to my research paper, I actually started to question my whole motivation for the Barcelona Graffiti project. Questioning my motivation has been a very useful exercise as it has helped me to refocus and think about where I’m headed. Therefore, I’ve decided to ‘chalk’ this project down as experimentation for fun 🤩 and I’ll just see where it leads.
We also discussed how I would like to explore ‘Kinetic Art’. Jonathan gave me some useful links that I’m really looking forward to exploring. Coming from our discussions I’m going to look at the ‘Kinetic Art Movement’ and also the following artists:
Takis, Alexander Calder and Jean Tinguely
Jonathan also mentioned the piece ‘Weave Mirror’ by Daniel Rozin. This is an amazing artwork! Certainly food for thought!
Jonathan also gave me some more useful links to check out over the Summer including:

Jonathan’s tutorial was really helpful and a nice way to round off, what for me, has been a thoroughly enjoyable first year!
